RE: Detachable Shore Power Cord - Pics

but did you really have to stuff all that cord back into that little hole before? Only if you pull it out. Mine's the same way, but only pull out enough cord to reach the pedestal. I thought I heard somewhere to pull the cord all the way out regardless of how much you need. Idea being to eliminate heat build-up? BTW, Great job and great idea. It would be just something else for me to forget while packing up though...:) pulling it out all the ways helps with the flow of electrons through the wire.

RE: DIY Awning material replacement

When I ripped the A&E awning on my MH the local RV dealer ordered the replacement material. It was around $250 for a 21' awning. I thought about doing it myself but was concerned about those springs too. When the Service guy said they would install for $150 I told them to go for it. Then, a week or so later, when the awning arrived, I was talking to their tech. He had many scars (some recent) on his arms. I asked him how come and his answer was that "a few of those awning springs still get away from me sometimes". Made me feel the $150 was money well spent! So, be careful if you do tackle the install yourself! XXX 4!!!! them springs are worse than garage door springs!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Math for tire loads

Unless I'm wrong, you can't get a 14" st tire in anything other than load range C. You can gain some weight rating by going with a 215 size, or upgrade to a 15" wheel. I'm facing the same problem, my trailer weighs right at 6500 lbs going down the road, and I have wore my tires completely down in under 8k miles. They look like they've been run extremely under-inflated, but I keep the tires at 50 psi religously. This time around, I'm going to try a 215 radial. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to go to 15's. \ ditto

RE: Gas Prices stopping you from RV'ing

Had a close call the other day, The DW's uncle told her how much gas was costing in the states(currently both in Iraq) as we were researching to buy a toy hauler(towing questions for someone looking to buy). SO for a bit there it was 'heck no, we can't afford gas, so we would never use it. We we are still looking and found some smaller, lighter trailers that she loves now, so the search and re-search continues. But this made me think......how is this affecting all those great people who provided me guidance before? Has the current price of gas hindered how much you use your RV? I explained to the better half that what we pay extra in gas we would make up in savings from not having to get hotels and eat out three meals a day. So how about it? looking to hear from you all Jim sure has...been a lot more local

RE: Side turn signals...or not??

If you WANT them to flash, find the ground wire for each light and connect it to the turn signal feed. Then, during the day the side marker will come on with the turn signal (and brake unfortunately) as the light will ground out through the tail-light circuit. At night, with the tail lamps on it will ground out through the brake/turn circuit and will be lit UNTIL you signal, or brake at which point it will have 12v to both sides of the bulb and it will go out when the turn/brake light is on. ie it will flash OFF when the signal flashes on. May work for you, but then again it may not! Ive had mine flash since I bought her.
